The Los Angeles Clippers play their third NBA game on the road the is Friday night when they face Miami Heat. The team from the West is coming off a loss to the Atlanta Hawks, and they hoping to right their wrong. The Clippers shot a lowly 42% from the floor and their 3-point range was worse at 19% in the game.  It was easy to see the lack of fluency in the team’s offense as there were key players missing due to load management. Despite having led by 21 points in the game, the LA let it slip in the fourth quarter as the Hawks found the bucket with regular frequency.

The Heat will want to extend their two-game winning streak when they welcome the Clippers to American Airlines Arena. Miami have found key players to share the load off of Jimmy Butler’s shoulders, with Tyler Herro and Goran Dragic picking up 25 and 22 points respectively. That should put the Heat in good stead going into the playoffs, as the sit in second position in the Eastern Conference.

The LA Clippers are not worried about their record (31-14), instead the team is getting through the regular season trying to avoid injuries and putting minutes in the legs of the bench. It didn’t pan out as expected when they visited Atlanta as there were obvious cracks in the team. The team’s overall chemistry was questioned as a result of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George choosing certain games to play. It should be different when they face the Heat.

• Kawhi is expected to make a comeback after sitting out the last game. It comes as no surprise that the team plays better with last year’s NBA finals MVP on the court.
• The Clippers’ record on the road is quite decent, averaging 115.6 points and 113.2 points per game. It will be put to the test against a team that is strong both defensively and offensively.
• Even with Leonard back, we cannot downplay the stats that the Heat put up when they are on home court. Miami has won 20 of the 21 games played at the American Airlines Arena and they will want to defend that record.

Without looking at the state, it is pretty obvious that the Heat play better as a team than what the Clippers currently have. They usually have to rely on solid individual brilliants and on nights when Leonard has to prove why load management helps, they usually win their games. With a healthy and rested Kawhi, the Clippers can beat any team in the NBA.
